March 2, 2007, Newsletter Issue #31: How Often Should I Change My Water Filter?

Tip of the Week

Your water supply line is an ice maker part that should have a water filter, whether you own an ice maker that uses Whirlpool ice maker parts, GE ice maker parts, or any other brand. The filter keeps impurities out of your ice, but it can get residue build up in the mesh screen of the filter, which can alter the flavor and consistency of your ice cubes. Ice maker parts don't require constant attention, but there is a bit of routine maintenance you should do to keep your ice maker in top form. Many people only get around to inspecting the water filter when they start to have problems with the ice machine, but it is highly recommended to replace the water filter every six months. This not only insures you won't have a blockage, but also improves the flavor of your ice cubes. Some filters will even reduce the chlorine taste of your water, and filter out chemicals!
